Bring the Outdoors, Indoors

It’s really been heating up here in Kansas City! If you’re anything like me, you’re probably spending time in the sun and  then retreating inside when you just can’t take it anymore.

Whenever I’m in this weird balance, I like to do what I can to bring the outdoors inside with me. My favorite way to do this is through houseplants. They not only make me feel like it’s still summer indoors, but they really bring life to any space.

Some of my favorite low maintenance houseplants are pothos or snake plants. These babies are rather easy to take care of, and are pretty good about letting you know when they need some attention.

If you have some more space to fill, I love a good rubber tree or fiddle leaf fig. Rubber trees are low maintenance and grow pretty steadily year round. Fiddle leaf figs can be a little touchy, but if you have any bright sunlight, you should be safe.

Not only are there tons of interesting looking plants, pots are a great way to introduce another layer of color and texture into your space. I personally love a good terra cotta as they are affordable and now come in a variety of colors and shapes. You can find these at just about any nursery, too!

Some of my favorite nurseries around the city are Family Tree, Soil Service, and if you’re up north, Larry’s is my number one. They have tons of affordable options and friendly folks to help make sure you’re set!

All that being said, I am no plant expert. I am however lucky enough to know one! If you are looking for recommendations on plants for your space, Brando with Brando’s Houseplants will help source plants, pots, and offers care services to ensure they are happy and healthy. Let him know I sent you!

I’d love to know how plants bring life into your homes, and if you have any other plant recommendations! Send all of the nursery and plant recommendations our way.

Cheers!

Kenzie
