Fall Mantle Decor Tips
Now that we’ve officially entered fall, it’s time to get some of those fun decorations out! One of my favorite ways to add some seasonal flair to a space is to refresh the mantle. This is the perfect place to start if you don’t have (or don’t want) too much decor.
Ferryl and I styled her mantle to give you some tips and tricks. While I love the nostalgia of all of the colorful halloween decor, that palette tends to clash with most spaces. I enjoy decor that can compliment the rest of the space - so we decided to focus on all of the black and white here.
You’ll need a variety of things in a variety of height and finish. You’ll see that we used books, pastry stands, and candlesticks to help achieve this goal. I like to start with two of the same thing to create some balance, and work out from there. Here you’ll see two skeleton heads, each on books, that were the base of this styling.
From there, I played around with some of her existing decor until it felt just right. Remember, it doesn’t all have to be themed to work. Here we have a branch, candlesticks, urn (for lack of a better word), mirrors, and plants. I like to then balance between finish and height. You’ll see I have the white branches on the left, and the darker plant on the right to balance height - by adding the bats to the left, it creates a sense of balance in tone as well.
A great way to easily transition decor is to keep a variety of taper candles on hand - which we did here by swapping to all white (though some black ones would’ve been great, too.) Ferryl brought out her creative skills by cutting out the witch profile and bats, which bring some vintage flair and fun to the space. We’ll drop the tutorial for the bats here!
Of course we couldn’t stop at the mantle, so enjoy our skeleton scene as well.
I hope these tips are helpful and will encourage you to refresh your space and play around with your existing decor. Let us know if you have any other mantle styling suggestions.
Cheers!
Kenzie
