Easy, Homemade Room and Linen Fresheners

If you’re anything like me, you love a clean scent. I am guilty of having clusters of candles strewn about my home as my collection grows. That being said, candles truly only help at the time that they’re lit, and do more to mask smells than to neutralize them.

I recently purchased a new sofa, and have been on a mission to ensure it doesn’t end up smelling like my four-legged friend, Lucy. Nothing ruins a beautiful space like a dog smell. This took me on a research journey to find the best way to neutralize odors on soft surfaces, and in general around my home.

As many of you likely know, baking soda works WONDERS for odors around the home. Many people use this in their fridges and for cleaning. Well, it can also be utilized to freshen air in larger spaces as well!

These are incredibly easy to make, and leave you with the comfort of knowing what exactly what inside. They’re not overpowering, but noticeable. I’ll drop the “recipes” below.

ROOM FRESHENER

  • Fill the jar about halfway with baking soda
  • Add a few drops of essential oils to strength preference
  • Stir
  • Place in the space of your choice
ROOM SPRAY

You’ll need:

  • Water
  • Baking Soda (1 tsp.)
  • Essential oils (5-20 drops)

Directions:

  • Dissolve baking soda in warm water in spray bottle
  • Add essential oils to strength preference

I used a mixture of santal and sandalwood essential oil and have loved it! Give it a try and let me know what scents I should try next.

Cheers!
